Sitting on the bank of the Ohio River in north central Kentucky, Lewisport is located conveniently close to all that the bluegrass state and its northern neighbor, Indiana, have to offer. Louisville, a little more than an hour away, is home to Churchill Downs and the Kentucky Derby. It’s also where the Louisville Slugger Museum & Factory is located, offering entertaining tours of its facility. A little farther east is historic Lexington, which still retains its colonial-era flavor amid its urban landscape, and is home to college basketball powerhouse, the Kentucky Wildcats.
Lewisport residents never have to travel far to enjoy the beauty of nature. Horse farms and sprawling green pastures form the landscape of the surrounding Kentucky countryside. Just an hour’s drive south is one of nature’s greatest marvels: Mammoth Cave National Park. The world’s longest cave features nearly 400 miles of underground passages for the adventuresome, while above ground the rugged, forested terrain surrounding the Green River is perfect for hiking, mountain biking, and horseback riding.
